They say that deaths in the entertainment world always come in threes, so after the suicides of designer Kate Spade and CNN’s Anthony Bourdain, many feared that a third suicide in Hollywood was coming. Now, it sadly appears that these fears were justified, as a third person in the entertainment world has just taken her own life.

Fox News reported that Jeanine Pepler, the publicist who represented novelists Jay McInerney and Candace Bushnell, took her life the same way as Spade and Bourdain did when she hung herself on Sunday night at her home in Sag Harbor, New York. She was 50 years-old.

Fox News reported that Pepler was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, before she moved to New York in 1996. She hit the ground running when she got there, working in public relations with the likes of Tina Brown, Michael Eisner, Julian Schnabel and Julie Taymor.

She was found dead by her boyfriend, artist Steve Miller.

“He is just devastated, as are we all,” said one source. “She seemed to be doing great. They had a lot of plans for the future.”

Pepler dated McInerney for six years before they amicably broke up in 2005. In his 9/11 novel, “The Good Life,” the dedication reads: “For Jeanine: Who rescued me that day and many days thereafter.”

“We will still love and care about each other even though we’re not together anymore,” Pepler said at the time of their breakup.

No matter how difficult life gets, suicide is never the answer. If you or someone you love is considering suicide, please seek help immediately!

Rest in peace, Jeanine Pepler!
